Hi
New to this forum, so apols if I've missed previous relevant posts...
I have an Allen and Simmonds (1925) Ltd two wheel garden tractor. It was bought at a local sale, largely complete bar handles, exhaust and odds and ends.
It now almost runs(!), having bodged a coil and constant discharge battery ignition, fabricated an exhaust from a different villiers and fitted a piston from a Mk11... just need to sort carb I hope. I also fitted a rope starter as the starter handle is from the gearbox and the gearing makes cranking very difficult - even with a little two-stroke.
I have made new oak handles, replaced/swapped round some bearings and generally fettled a bit.
The machine has iron wheels, large cast-iron casings, dog-clutch, wooden handles and a villiers Mk Viii-c two-stroke. Machine number is 696A.
I am interested whether anyone has any more details - eg date, info about implements etc (mine has a pair of ridgers fitted and thats all).
sounds like my new investment tho mine was complete bar any tools for the rear end. but after any info on the machine like handbook instructions or any pictures of tools to fit the back end so i can make some up.
